A complete history of feminism - Part 1 –Joan of Arc & Part 2 – Mary Queen of Scots

These portraits are expressionistic in style yet our intention is that they fail to communicate. It is because of this that we have chosen important historical figures, who lead full and complicated lives; whose stories we believe have since been distorted into simple rhetoric and iconography. In the same way a child may draw his mum as a simple smiling circle, we paint Kings, Queens and political monsters. This is a neutralisation of meaningful lives into vapid nonentities.
